Yes, there are natural hair products that you can purchase for everyday use. Using all natural hair products is not only good for your hair, but a smart choice for the environment as a whole. But, for that extra little treat, there are some natural goodies that can be found at your local fruit stand and possibly even in your own pantry that are excellent and very healing for your beautiful mane.
Here are some quick treats that you can whip up to nourish and baby those tresses:
The perfect trick for a shine like the hair models is to add lime oil to your weekly hair care regime. As a rule of thumb when using any essential oil is to mix it with a “carrier oil.” Coconut oil works perfectly for this. If you are simply using a regular lime (which also works as a shine booster), simply add the juice from half of a lime along with your conditioner.
Limes work so well as shine enhancers that you’ll find yourself skipping those expensive, shine promising, chemical laden products.
Need to Loosen those Curls?
Okay, so you know the deal. If you have curly hair, you envy the straight look, and if you have straight hair, you’re constantly curling yours. Well, unfortunately we can’t help you with that mindset, but we can give you a tip to elongate and loosen those curls to achieve a head full of sexy, soft tresses. The main ingredient once again? You guessed it…lime. Here’s the recipe:
1 small container of coconut milk
2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
4 Tablespoons lime juice
3 Tablespoons cornstarch
Whisk together the coconut milk and the olive oil in a saucepan. Add the lime juice and continue to whisk. Heat on medium, whisking constantly while adding the cornstarch. Continue to heat and whisk until you achieve a conditioner type consistency. Apply to freshly shampooed hair, leaving on for 15 – 20 minutes, rinse, and style as usual.
Help for Dry, Damaged Hair
If your hair is damaged from too much blow dryer action, or starting to break off at the ends from over-processing or color treatments, here’s some natural help. Using 1/2 of an avocado, 1 Tablespoon olive oil, 2 Tablespoons mayonnaise, and 1 egg yolk will do the trick. Simply put all of the ingredients in the blender, apply to hair and leave on for an hour or longer. Wash and style as usual. You will notice a big difference.
Olive Oil and Rosemary
Olive oil and rosemary can be added to hair conditioners anytime for additional benefits. Why do they work? Rosemary has strong antioxidant properties. It helps to guard against cell damage and has been used to promote hair growth. Olive oil wraps itself to and nourishes the hair shaft, actually protecting your hair against future damage.
Natural hair products are always a smart choice. Here’s hoping these “home remedies” can prove to be helpful to you as well!
